About the USS Battleship Missouri
General Admission tickets allow guests to tour the battleship at their own leisurely pace. Escorted tours by retired military
veterans who have served their country in conflicts throughout the world joined by patriotic citizens and volunteers have become
the Missouri’s voice. Come join us and let us share her legacy with you. Nearly every square foot of the Missouri has a story, and
there are some areas of the battleship that are only accessible with expert guides at your side answering questions and bringing
the battleship to life, the unforgettable ‘Surrender Story’ as told by our escorts are emotional and passionate.
Battleship Guided Tour
Knowledgeable guides will provide colorful stories about the ship's history and life at sea during a 60-minute
guided tour. Walk in General Douglas MacArthur's footsteps and stand where he accepted the Instrument of
Surrender that ended World War II; discover the thrilling details of the kamikaze attack on the Missouri;
visit the Combat Engagement Center (seen only by Guided Tour guests); and see where 28 Tomahawk missiles
were launched during the Gulf War.
Explorer’s Tour
The Explorer's Tour gives visitors a very exclusive behind the scenes look into the ship's impressive fire rooms, machinery,
main and secondary battery plots and working areas. During this 90-minute tour, visitors explore the Missouri's Post Office and
walk through crew berthing areas as they were left in 1992 at the ship's decommissioning. Visitors also see the machine shop,
where sailors manufactured nearly any repair piece the ship required at sea. Visitors descend within the armor belt to "Broadway,"
the longest passageway in the ship that connects all of the Missouri’s fire and engine rooms and is the length of a WWII submarine.
Stepping off "Broadway" visitors move into the secondary and main battery plots, which are home to the pre-war vintage computers
that controlled the battleship's gigantic 16-inch gun turrets and 5-inch guns. Once inside "Mighty Mo's" battery plot, visitors
are immersed in the intricate nerve center of these formidable weapons and get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to squeeze the
brass "trigger" that fires the big guns. Visitors also see the crew's galley and the Chief Petty Officer's (CPO) exhibit.
Acoustiguide Tour
The self-guided Acoustiguide (Audio Phone) Tour is filled with sound effects, historical
and tactical information and
special interviews from USS Missouri crew members. Over 100 listening stations are available throughout the vessel including
the entire main deck, superstructure and Surrender Deck. The entire program is 2 hours in length and may be customized to the
needs of groups booking itineraries based on time limitations, if necessary. Tour includes one Audio Phone piece per person.
